Chianti "on the rocks"
We are well aware of our frugality, when it comes to the heating bill, cable television , and our humble abode, but when each of those aspects collide, you end up drinking wine with your best bud in the middle of a freezing cold and run down apartment. Fortunately, I would define that as the highlight of my week!
This Chianti Classico, a dry, light (in color) red wine has gland pumping attributes that make you smack your lips and twist your tongue. Not sure it was too high on either of our lists of favorites, but the bottle certainly provided a new experience and excuse to enjoy each others company.
Wendy provided a great meal for us after the bottle. She is a nice lass, who lives on Ashland and Fullerton.

Chianti Chilled to perfection... too cold for comfort?

Night at Francesca's
This great Rosso Italian wine, was enjoyed as Nick and I were hosted by my friend Leo at his restaurant.
The wine was a delightful mix of dryness and fruity flavor. The wine was accompanied by some of the great fare only available at this fine Italian restaurant.
These visits are especially enjoyable to Nick who spent his High School days working at the West Dundee version of this company.
We also loved visiting with Leo who neither of us had seen in months. A great guy with a smile and a story.

Theft on Armitage
Although this Rioja from central Spain surprised us with its smooth clean taste, it wasn't the biggest surprise of the evening. Russ found himself in the middle of a "crime scene" when he entered the apartment. A cowardly intruder took liberties beyond his worth, broke into our back window and stole the following items: Cash, Fossil Watch, Garmin Watch, Nook, and a XPS Dell laptop.
In hindsight, Russ and my conversation regarding our decision to extend the renters insurance was classic foreshadowing. But we are sure glad we ended up with the decision we did, as now we just have to deal with the inconveniences of filing the claim.
While this 2006 Finca Nueva, tasted a tad bitter to me, perhaps tainted from the current experience; Russ was happy to dull the aggravation some wretch caused.
Here's to the Boys in Blue at the CPD. We were both surprised by their competence, and apparent concern.
(Note the Police Report and the intruders entrance in the background.)

Atteca
Great night! We always look forward to the future, remember the past, but it is most important to live in the current moment. That is what this wine reminded me of as I sipped slowly and enjoyed the discussion with Russ. We talked of past wines, the wines we have yet to drink, but also the wine in our glass currently. How lucky we truly are.
This Atteca from Spain was a bit fruity, and a clean finish. High marks, but falls short of some of our previous experiences.
With wedding plans in the mix, job interviews for Russ a weekly occurrence, and funny fiancée stories, our conversation is never dull.
Work is around the corner. Time for some shut eye.... aided by Atteca.
Sweet night, Sweet Wine.

Quinta Ruban
An empty bottle means a happy stomach. This bottle is one of my Fav's! A classic Glenmorangie name, with a Port Wine after taste. Extra Matured in Oak barrels, this single malt is one to make your mouth water. I just can't wait to jump into it's sister bottle... Sherry. Classic.
